Welcome! My name is Dr. Sinclair and I am the Founder and Director of Sinclair Psychological Associates. I am both a Clinical and Health Psychologist; meaning, I have expertise in treating clients with psychological and emotional stressors (typically trauma, anxiety, grief and other stress responses); as well as clients with medical conditions negatively impacting their daily lives. My work encompasses both private practice and consultancy. In private practice, I help clients redefine their grief and traumatic experiences, in order to reclaim their personal power, their joy and, at times, their bodies. As a consultant, I guide clients and their loved ones through the adjustment of a new health related or neurological diagnosis. You'll find me to be very warm and welcoming, please feel free to outreach at the number below and I will be happy to offer a free 15 minute call to answer any questions that you may have.

I began my work helping people in 1997, at Camp Venture. There, I assisted people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Down Syndrome and Autism. During that time, I became expert in crisis management, supporting the development of self-sufficiency and independence in very low-functioning people. It was during those years that I developed a profound respect for the human spirit and the struggle for dignity and agency that we can experience during our lives. I also worked as a behavioral therapist at Abbott House for ten years, treating adults with co-morbid mental health disorders and training staff in pro-active methodologies. From 2016 to 2022, I worked as a substance abuse counselor at Lexington Center for Recovery, a medication assisted treatment facility. There, I counseled adults suffering from drug addiction, treating the many unresolved feelings of anxiety, depression, fear and anger underlying addictive behaviors. My therapeutic approach is trauma informed. I also use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to challenge the distortions in our thinking that can lead us to have negative beliefs about ourselves and make poor life decisions. I fundamentally believe that our mistakes do not define us; that we can learn from them and achieve a life balance that allows us to live with grace. “In reality, we have no control over the curveballs that life throws at us. Obviously, we can’t change the past, but together you and I can develop coping strategies to assist you in creating the life you want to live.”

It doesn't make sense. You’ve got emotional intelligence and self-awareness. But still, you struggle with stress and anxiety. It's so frustrating. Your stress never lets up. It follows you home from work and makes you snap at the people you love most: your spouse and kids. Putting out fires and dealing with people is so exhausting that you can't be productive during the day, can't enjoy dinner with your family, and can't sleep at night. The textbook emotional intelligence stuff just isn't cutting it. In therapy, you’ve talked in circles for weeks about your feelings without relief. It takes forever – and you’re not getting anywhere. Imagine having a manual to understand exactly what you’re feeling, why you’re feeling it, and what to do with it. It helps you handle stress and anxiety, be confident, and thrive in relationships, work, and life. That’s what my clients get in our work. Emotions explained in simple, logical terms. Clarity, effective action, and measurable results. Picture yourself feeling calm, confident, and in control, no matter the situation. Imagine creating a mindset and life of focus, fulfillment, and freedom. And here's the best part: you don't have to handle this alone. Let's turn your energy-draining stress into clear direction and empowered action. Give me call now for your free consultation.

Whether you’re facing emotional challenges ranging from anxiety to depression, isolation or loss, or just having difficulty managing the stress of your day-to-day life, I can help you on your journey as you move forward. My practice centers on an integrative approach to healing. Trained as a dance/movement psychotherapist, I blend together a psychodynamic framework with both expressive and behavioral strategies. It is here where you will experience authenticity and resilience. I enjoy working with adolescents, young people and women. As you express your lived experiences, I will work alongside you as you identify and explore issues that lead to greater insight and self-awareness. Through conversation, movement therapy, meditation, journaling, poetry, cognitive reframing, positive problem-solving or the development of healthy coping strategies, you’ll uncover your best self. With a wealth of clinical experience in mental health settings, I work holistically to weave together creative and expressive modalities with behavioral approaches. My singular style allows me to meet the moment of my clients in a way that is empathic and authentic. My work has been described as restorative, transformative and compassionate.

I begin the collaboration with each person seeking my professional counsel by asking, "What is it you're not getting in your life that causes you pain?" Together, we explore the resources that will allow them to heal, change and grow. During the 30 years I have practiced psychotherapy, from a systemic or holistic perspective, I have assisted individuals, parents, couples, adolescents and caregivers to see and experience their lives differently. As a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists, I help families to recognize unhealthy patterns and assist them in creating solutions together. In addition, as a past school administrator, I consult with parents and students in relation to learning and behavioral issues as well as interfacing with school personnel, as needed. I hold a doctorate from Columbia University and am also a Certified Classical Homeopath [CCH]. Homeopathy's inexpensive, FDA-approved remedies provide a safe alternative to psychotropic drugs for those suffering from anxiety or depression, and can provide a more gentle option for children challenged by ADHD/ADD. I am a psychologist who has provided psychotherapy and psychological testing services to children, adolescents, and adults for over 30 years. I have developed a particular interest in working with hypersensitive children and in the differential diagnosis of ADHD and Bipolar Disorder. Many of the pervasively hypersensitive children and adolescents with whom I work have come to me with a diagnosis of ADHD, but are then found, after a thorough evaluation, to have either an anxiety or mood disorder. As a therapist who works primarily with children and adolescents, I have found that when children feel understood and valued, they connect. I believe that connection with clients can only occur in an atmosphere of mutual trust, understanding, and respect. It is through such a connection, that we can inspire our clients to think differently and help them to develop greater depth of understanding, accuracy of perception, and clarity of vision. I believe that effective treatment can only be accomplished with a deep understanding of my clients and with accurate diagnosis. I also believe that the ultimate goal of treatment is not just symptom relief, but the development of a solid sense of self and a solid moral compass.
